Morning Songs, Goose Lake
Orion, Pleiades, in the east, then
white glow on the hills,
try to count the stars inside the corral of Capella
they fade as light from the east comes on
wild goose-calls wake us awake
crows, robins, woodpeckers truck-rumbles
we diurnal daylight eyebright beings
hear goose-calls greet the star-fade
far-off cows begin the morning Moo.
Travelling to the Malheur Lake Wildlife Preserve in the Oregon
High Desert, slept the first night at a little campground by Goose
